19 of Medvedev's twenty-one championships have been earned on hard courts

A resurgent Daniil Medvedev won his maiden trophy for nearly 30 months with a win over opponent Moutet in the Almaty Open championship match.

The Russian, a ex- world number one, has experienced a torrid year, achieving just one match at the major tournaments and undergoing a setback at the American major.

The player's unpredictability on the professional circuit - and difficulties with his serve in specific - led to him falling of the elite rankings and ultimately parting ways with long-term coach Gilles Cervara.

Presently training with Johansson and Goetzke, the tennis star has steadily progressed in the past month - peaking in a hard-fought three-set win over Frenchman Corentin Moutet.

This represents his first championship following the Italian tournament and maiden on a hardcourt since spring of that year.

The win also indicates Medvedev has achieved twenty-one championships at twenty-one distinct tournaments.

"For the first time I am participating in a competition with my both daughters together, so to win a trophy is especially meaningful," commented tennis professional the champion.

"This title is in dedication of my second daughter Victoria, because the maiden victory I achieved when my child her name was born was for her."

The tennis star, the former major winner, had lost his previous six title deciders, featuring in the German tournament previously this season.

His defensive approach and recurring outbursts on the playing surface had caused observers to doubt if his ability to play at the elite level was concluded.

Yet the 29-year-old has altered his approach in recent weeks, attempting to come to the net and compete assertively, reinforced by an improved serve.

Medvedev recovered from a disadvantage in the first set against the difficult Frenchman, taking 4 of the concluding five exchanges to take the lead.

The pair exchanged break points in the following set before Moutet, bidding for his first professional championship, gained dominance to force a final set.

He saved 4 initial break points in a competitive final set before the champion won the break to fifteen to secure the win.

Fittingly, the winner clinched victory with a rally at the front of the court, with his opponent failing to manage a return after a lengthy match.
